Havering to host dedicated cycling event on 6th March 2011

Havering which is to become the first of the London Mayor Boris Johnson's Biking Boroughs to host a dedicated cycling event will be taking place on the 6th March 2011 from 10am to 4pm which is will be held at Hornchurch Country Park

Entry to the event will be free and the entrance to Havering Bikewise will be from Airfield Way, Hornchurch

As well as a range of exhibitors with cycles and equipment for sale, there will also be led cycle rides, a stunt show by stunt cyclists the MAD BMX Display Team and a cycle polo tournament. There will also be activities for kids which will include a bungee trampoline, face painting, balloon modelling and a bouncy castle.

This free event aims to encourage more people to cycle and will also be an opportunity for new cyclists to receive advice and assistance on getting started and for the more experienced cyclists, we can take part in virtual races and a cycle polo tournament where a trophy will be awarded to the winning team

Havering was one of 13 London boroughs announced by the Mayor as Biking Boroughs last year. All are tasked with encouraging more residents to cycle, and received funding from TfL to support initiatives aimed at achieving this
